GrimDeeper was contracted to perform third-party turbidity monitoring on this Shore Protection Project – Sand Key, Treasure Island and Long Key Segments in Pinellas County, Florida. USACE is the contracting officer, with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) providing environmental oversight. Norfolk Dredging Company (“NDC”) is the prime dredging contractor.
This project involves the hydraulic dredging, using the cutter suction dredge “Charleston”, of approximately 200,000 cubic yards of material from the Blind Pass Inlet to re-nourish approximately 2,000 feet of Upham Beach. The beach nourishment will begin at the southern inlet jetty and progress southeastward along the shoreline until completed. The project is expected to complete by June 30, 2019.
