GrimDeeper was contracted to perform third-party turbidity monitoring on this St. Lucie Inlet (“SLI”) maintenance dredging project. USACE is the contracting officer, in partnership with The Martin County Board of County Commissioners, and The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). Weeks Marine, Inc is the prime dredging contractor.
The St. Lucie Inlet (SLI) Maintenance Dredging Project involves the hydraulic dredging, using the cutter suction dredge “C.R. McCaskill”, of approximately 475,000 cubic yards of material from the SLI, entrance channel and impoundment basin into a floating and submerged pipeline for discharge in the St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park (“Hobe Sound beach”). Approximately 1.5 miles of the beach will be [re]nourished starting from the small jetty on the North side moving to the South.
