St. Lucie County, in partnership with the State Department of Environmental Protection, were the project sponsors, and Manson Construction was the prime dredging contractor.

The project involved the dredging and placement of approximately 478,000 cubic yards of material from the Capron Shoals Borrow Area (approximately 5 nautical miles offshore) to fill 4,700 linear feet of shoreline immediately south of Fort Pierce inlet, utilizing the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge (TSHD) “Bayport”. Turbidity monitoring included sampling at the borrow area and beach fill sites, twice daily (12-hour schedule).
