Canaveral Harbor Maintenance Dredging
39 Through 44-Foot Project

Date: May 10, 2019 – July 29, 2019

GrimDeeper was contracted to perform third-party turbidity monitoring on this Canaveral Harbor Maintenance Dredging 38 Through 44-Foot Project dredging project. USACE is the contracting officer, with additional funding provided by the Canaveral Port Authority (CPA – project sponsor) and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). Norfolk Dredging Company is the prime dredging contractor.

This project involves the mechanical dredging, using the clamshell dredgers “Atlantic” and “Virginian”, of approximately 1-million cubic yards of material from the Port Canaveral entrance channel. There will also be additional work inside the Port. The excavated material is placed in a scow and placed either offshore at the Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS) or depending on the quality of the material, the Nearshore Disposal Area (“NDA”). The project is expected to complete by early August 2019.
